The Therapeutic Center of Chania is the oldest medical care unit in Chania area.
1932 Establisment
The clinic was founded by the ophthalmologist Dr. Dimitrios Melissas and it was operated having Eye, Medical and Surgical department from 1932 to 1954.
1954 Expansion
From 1954 until 1992 was operated by the E.N.T. Dr. John Theodorakis who was the owner of the clinic who expanded the building in double size. He established 3 new departments. ENT, Orthopedic and Obstetrics-Gynecology with renovated patient’s rooms and adding new equipments.
1992 Radical Renovation-New owner-New name
In 1992, the clinic was purchased by the Obstetrician Gynecologist Dr. Manousos Kapakis who had made a radical renovation of the building in the patient’s rooms and the operating rooms. Since then, the clinic continues to operate as general clinic with most of the Medical and Surgical Departments under the name “Therapeutic of Chania-Kliniki Kapaki”.
2012 Renovation
In 2012, a new renovation was taken place and the clinic was staffed and managed by the children of Doctor Kapakis. The new family medical staff: Dr. Maria Kapakis-Internist, Dr. Christina Kapakis – Laboratory Medicine and Dr. Kostas Garefalakis – Cardiologist.
2018 Renovation-New diagnostic facilities
New thorough renovations of the buildings and facilities took place including public areas, rooms, operating rooms and bathrooms. New services such as satellite TV and WI-FI were also added.
New diagnostic equipents was added to complete the whole spectrum of diagnostic facilities like new CT scan, new digital mammogram 3 D with the ability of robotic biopsy, new MRI machine and new bone density measuremet machine.
2023 ICU ambulance-4K endoscopy unit-Laser
New CT scanner 128 slices, ambulance intensive unit, endoscopy unit 4 K and laser machine for lithotripsy kidneys, ureters an urinary bladder. Laser prostatectomy.
